These monies are available for the reimbursement of tuitiion/registration/required books/air fare/hotel, as well as costs related to the CNA certification exam.
Applications must be received by Human Resources (in drop off box) no later than 30 days after the completion of course/workshop.
This committee meets the first Monday of the month from September to June (unless the Monday is a statutory holiday, then the committee meeting the second Monday of the month).
All applications received after the June meeting, are reviewed at the September meeting.
Once an application is approved by the committee an email is sent to the nurse’s SBH email address.
Once all supporting documents are received for an approved application the committee finalizes the application for payment. A request is then sent to HRSS accounts payable to issue payment to the applicant in the form of a direct deposit. HRSS accounts payable will send the applicant an email confirmation once the deposit has been made as this deposit will not appear on your pay statement.

Local 5 is entitled to have four (4) representatives on this committee along side the employer representatives. Two members are elected annually at the Local 5 annual general meeting and serve a 2 year term of office.
